Overview

Inclusive agricultural development requires the full participation of women and youth — two groups that face unique barriers but hold enormous potential to transform Rwanda's agricultural sector. NIRAM Ltd designs targeted programs that address structural inequalities and unlock the entrepreneurial energy of these groups.

Women in Agriculture

Women make up over 60% of Rwanda's agricultural workforce, yet they own less land, receive less extension support, and have lower access to finance than their male counterparts. Our women's empowerment programs address these gaps through a combination of rights-based advocacy, practical skills training, and economic empowerment.

Youth Agribusiness Programs

  • Agribusiness incubation and mentorship for youth entrepreneurs
  • Technical and vocational skills training in agriculture and agro-processing
  • Business plan competitions and seed funding facilitation
  • Market linkage and buyer connections for youth-led enterprises
  • Digital skills for agribusiness (e-commerce, social media marketing, digital record-keeping)

Women's Economic Empowerment

  • Women's savings and credit groups
  • Land rights awareness and documentation support
  • Leadership training for women in cooperative governance
  • Gender-responsive value chain interventions
  • Childcare and time-burden reduction strategies
When women and youth lead in agriculture, entire communities benefit — productivity rises, nutrition improves, and the next generation sees farming as a viable, dignified career.
